Point Dume is the mountain bluff that forms the end of the Santa Monica Bay to the North. Known for it's gated exlusive private beach "Little Dume beach," one of the best surfing spots in Southern California, and a hotspot getway from most of the traffic of other Malibu public beaches such as Zuma beach. Point Dume is the paradise community of Malibu, and has emerged as some of the hottest most desireable real estate in Malibu.
Many people from around the world migrate to Malibu to make Point Dume their home because of its strong community like atmosphere. Many people use golf carts as a means of transportation to the Point Dume Village (The shopping center located in Point Dume), to the Westward beach or Little Dume, or even to drop off and pick kids up at the Point Dume elementary school. Point Dume is the kind of place where everybody knows everybody, there is a elevated mood everywhere, maybe because people realize they live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Did you know that Point Dume was named after Padre Francisco Dumetz in 1793 by George Vancouver? What George didn't realize was that Dumetz was mispelled as Dume and it was never corrected so feel free to call it "Point Dumetz" to be politically correct.
